Announcement: The Millionaires Club meets the first and third Mondays of the month in Room 2024 during lunch. The purpose of this club is to encourage and promote financial and investment literacy by utilizing a stock market simulation and engaging students in practical discussions that will increase their personal financial knowledge

Announcement: The new Black-Eyed Susan Book Nominees are here! Stop by the Media Center to check them out. Have you been turning in your Black-Eyed Susan book logs? Read 3 BES books in a category, vote for your favorite author & enter in a prize drawing. Don't delay, you can submit your book logs online by visiting the Media Center website and clicking on the Black-Eyed Susan tab!

Announcement:  The Comic Book Club meets on Thursday during lunch in 2004. If you are interested, come by 2004 before then to get a pass, and we’ll see you then.

Announcement: The Trojan Puzzle Enthusiasts club meets in Room 2080 on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch.  Please see Mr. Bierly, Mrs. Portell, Mrs. Farrow, or Mr. Murray for a pass.  

Announcement:  There will be a free dental event occurring at Wisteria Dental Care clinic located in Germantown on Saturday, February 22 from 9am-5pm. This is open to all children ages 0-18 who do not have insurance. Anyone interested, please stop by the health room to get more information.

Announcement Attention all seniors! Senior lock In has been rescheduled for March 6th due to lack of tickets sales. Tickets sales will continue this week in the cafeteria during lunch. If we don’t get enough ticket sales by Feb. 14th we will cancel the event. So buy your tickets.

Announcement:  If you have left ceramic projects from last semester in Ms. Lunceford’s room please pick them up by next Friday.

Announcement:  Reminder for the class of 2020: If you have not received an admissions response from any of the colleges and universities you have applied to, or if schools have requested that you provide mid-year grades, please complete a mid-year transcript request as soon as possible.  Forms are in the counseling office.

Announcement: Are you considering joining a branch of the US Military?  Have you taken the ASVAB exam yet?  Have you taken the ASVAB and are unhappy with your scores?  If so, please see Ms. Sliffman in the College Career Center for more information about testing in February and March.  Feb. 12 at Clarksburg, March 10 at Sherwood and Monday, March 30 here at GHS.

Announcement:  Represent your culture during International Night! We are looking for any person or group who can put on a 2-minute show to share their culture through performance. Auditions will be held on February 20 after school in the PAC.  See Mrs. Neidlinger with questions. 

Announcement:  Attention all students!!! A new service-oriented club in the community is looking for a student intern. That person would be responsible for social media and secretarial responsibilities. You must enjoy meeting and talking to others and attending events. Interested? Stop by Ms. Nardin's room in 1115 to learn more! 

Announcement:  DUAL ENROLLMENT at Montgomery College

Dual Enrollment is for motivated HS students ready for new challenges, and interested in getting a head start on earning college credit. Next Fall there will be three MC courses offered at GHS taught by MC Professors during Periods 7 & 8. The first step is to apply to Montgomery College. The Application Fee for MC is waived through April 15, so now is a great time to apply! Financial assistance and an MC HS Grant is available to qualifying students for Dual Enrollment courses.

Announcement:  Are you interested in learning more about how electrochemical biosensors can be used to help diagnose oral diseases? Dr. Nikki of the American Dental Association will be visiting GHS during REM on February 11th to discuss her work in designing sensors that can detect both periodontal diseases and cancer! If you are interested in attending please see Mr. Edmiston for a REM pass.

Announcement: The rampant use of Artificial Intelligence has changed how we interact with the world around us. Dr. Jason of NIST will be visiting GHS during REM on February 13th to discuss how AI is changing research in the physical sciences by alleviating humans from mundane tasks so that they may spend more time thinking creatively. If you are interested in attending please see Mr. Edmiston for a REM pass.

Announcement:  JUNIORS: Make sure that if you want a partial day schedule next year that you have your INTERNSHIP application in by Feb 28th.  Applications are available online, in the counseling office, and in the Internship Office in Room 1157.  The application requires a resume and cover letter and recommendations so don’t wait until the last minute to pick up an application.  Please see Ms. Shaw if you have any questions.  And don’t forget…have that application in before Feb 28th. 

Announcement:  Attention staff and students, the Media Center is celebrating Twenty-Eight Days of Hidden Figures. Raise your awareness about African American unsung heroes and heroines. Come by the Media Center to uncover a different Hidden Figure each day in the month of February. 

Announcement:  Attention job seeking students! The PTA will be hosting a job fair during the basketball game next Tuesday night! It begins at 6:30pm and it will be located in the Trophy Hall outside the basketball game. There will be many employers there looking for summer employees! 

Announcement:  Sources of Strength is hosting a free Pal-entine's Day event during lunch on Friday, February 14th in the senior pit. Everyone has "sources of strength", and one strength is "Positive Friends". Join us to celebrate your Positive Friends by taking fun photos together and by writing nice notes to the friends you care about!  Hope to see you there!
