Hello GHS Families! This will be my last posting of the GHS Announcements for the year, and for the past 7 years.


I’ve had a wonderful wonderful 8 straight years at GHS.

I will forever Bleed Blue and Gold….as an alumni, teacher & parent of GHS. Don’t EVER let anyone tell you GHS isn’t an INCREDIBLE place to be. Stay involved or get involved!!! The PTSA and the Booster Club are GREAT places to stay involved and connect with other parents!! 


Have a wonderful summer and good luck next year at what will forever be #MyGaithersburg!

Students and Parents--important year end information: 

 1) Please clean out your lockers before the last day of school.  All lockers will be opened during the summer and anything inside will be thrown away.  Please see Security if you forgot your locker combination.

2) Please return all of your textbooks and uniforms before the end of the year so they do not become obligations for you next year.

3) If you have a negative balance with the cafeteria, please pay this before the end of the year otherwise it will be an obligation for you next year.  Please see Mrs. Donner is you have questions about cafeteria balances.


PARENTS!!  Important information regarding the revised school calendar for the remaining week of school: 

· Thursday, June 13, is a FULL DAY OF INSTRUCTION FOR STUDENTS.  

This day was originally scheduled as an early release day and the last day of school for students.

· Friday, June 14, is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS and is an EARLY RELEASE DAY.  This day was added as an instructional day due to emergency closures.


Announcements for June 11

       

  • Forever Sisters meets today during lunch in room 1104.  New members are welcome.   
  • Are you interested in going to college? Then SAT Club is the one for you. Come by room 3066 Wednesdaysduring lunch to prepare for this major test.  


As previously announced: 

  • Yearbook are in! If you haven't received your yearbook go to room 1069 and see Mrs. Keres. There are still yearbook available, if you would like to purchase a yearbook see Mrs. Keres. Yearbook are $96. Seniors can only pay cash for a yearbook.
  •  Can’t get enough of the GHS Media center? The Media Center is now open extended hours Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4 pm. You can also take the media center where ever you go with the Sora student reading app. Download it today to unlock a virtual library filled with eBooks and audio literature.   
  •  Hey Juniors!! Come see your counselor before school, during lunch, or after school to set up your junior conference before the summer break. 
  •  Any and all students who are in need of a sports physical are welcome to come to the wellness center and see Mrs. Ostry any day until the end of school. Please come to the health room to schedule an appointment and pick up an enrollment packet, if you are not already signed up and a sports physical history form to be completed by your parent or guardian.  This is a free service that the wellness center provides for all students at GHS!   
  •  Summer reading is here!  It's time to choose a book that you want to read during this upcoming summer.  You will be able to select a text that a teacher in the building has also chosen to read. When you return in the fall, you will engage in a seminar discussion about the text. Check the GHS website, as well as with your English or ESOL teacher, for more information.  This is a school-wide requirement for every student.  Get excited to explore new worlds and expand your knowledge this summer!  
  • Students interested in coming to the Media Center during ShowTime must obtain a pass ahead of time from the Media Center. Passes are only distributed before school, after school and during lunch.  Students, please do not come between periods, you will be sent back to class.    
  •  Students are you interested in earning SSL hours?  Volunteer at SummerFest.   SummerFest is a huge outdoor festival held at Bohrer Park that culminates with a fabulous fireworks display.  Students are needed to be face painters, greeters, and to help with a few family activities we have planned.  SummerFest is on Saturday, June 29th from 5 -11 pm at Bohrer Park.   Student volunteers are needed from 4:00-9:00pm.  We will have volunteer t-shirts, sandwiches, snacks, and water.    We encourage students to stay and watch the fireworks and AfterGlo Party.  Stop by the Media Center to pick a Volunteer Indemnification Form.   
  •  Do you want to be a part of the marching band but don’t know how to play an instrument? Do you want to show off your school spirit during football games? Then come out to GHS Flagline tryouts June 12 and 13th in the PAC. No experience is needed. If you have any questions, stop by to see Ms. Anaya during lunch or after school in room 1080 for help. Flyers are also posted around the school with the application link and QR code.   
  • Are you a so called math nerd? Do you want to help your peers and other members of the community? Then Mu Alpha Theta is the perfect honor society for you! See a math teacher for a Showtime pass. This meeting is open to anyone and everyone… Come check it out!  
  •  Congratulations to the newly inducted Science National Honor Society members. We look forward to a fun and productive school year next year!  
  •  Minority Scholars Program will be meeting, today, Tuesday during lunch in room 2001. Come learn more about opportunities to raise minority awareness in the community. Bring a friend!!

  • This is a final reminder to turn in your SSL hours to Mrs. Turner this week. Please drop them off in the main office SSL mailbox or in her office next to the girls PE locker room. 
  •  Come and join the Fellowship of Christian Athletes today, Tuesday, in room 1095 at lunch! ALL are welcome to join. It is a time of fun and encouragement.

  •  Are you a fashion designer or do you want to learn how to sew? Come to an information meeting at lunch 2039 today. Let’s start a club for next year. If you have questions please see Ms. Bell.
