AFTER PROM FUNDRAISER WINNER

The GHS PTSA After Prom Fundraiser Drawing was scheduled to be held tonight at Gaitherburg's Finest Show. As that show has been postponed, the GHS After Prom Committee made the decision to hold the drawing today at Gaithersburg High School and to share the good news with the Gaithersburg High School community via YouTube video. There are two winner of $1000 Gift Cards to a retailer of the their choice choice.

 

Thank you to all families who donated to the After Prom fundraiser - you have helped us get closer to our goal to raise enough money so that we can offer the After Prom event free to all students to keep them safe on prom night.

What is After Prom?

An alcohol-free and drug-free event for ALL 11th & 12th graders who attend GHS.
It was created to provide students a fun and safe way to celebrate after the prom.
It is FREE for all 11th and 12th graders - whether they decide to attend the prom or not.
It is held the night of prom (May 15, 2020) and runs from 11:00p - 4:00a at GHS.

What is there to do at After Prom?
Inflatables - (Yes, the older kids still love them!)
Poker tables ( chips, not real money)
Airbrush tattoo artists
Food, Food and More Food
Tons of Raffle Prizes throughout the event ( 80+ prizes)

 How many students attend?  HUNDREDS! (Over 500 students attended last year.)

 How much does this cost to put on?  
Approximately $13,000 and IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY TO KEEP THESE KIDS SAFE!









Share Your Love of Pizza and GHS PTSA After Prom on TODAY March 12

Enjoy delicious pizza or wings at Ledo's Pizza at 7213 Muncaster Mill Road. All you need to do is show up, Ledo's is giving 10% of all sales on March 12 to the After Prom.  Offer is good all day from 11:00 am - 10:00 pm for Carry out or Dine In. 


Please donate store bought pies today or tomorrow morning! Pie giveaway is tomorrow and volunteers needed! Drop pies off in office and Contact Jeremy_S_Youngdale@mcpsmd.org if you can volunteer!


Announcement:  Have you seen the new posters in the main offi

ce hallway? Have you heard the announcements for Gaithersburg’s Finest and wondered what it is? GHS has enjoyed the annual Mr. Gaithersburg show this time of year in the past. This is the first year we have opened up the show to all eligible seniors and not just male students. The name of the show has been changed to Gaithersburg’s Finest. It is still the entertaining, hilarious, and always enjoyable show you are used to seeing, the only difference is the group of contestants. They have been working hard on their talents and you can expect some crowd pleasers! The show is this Friday,March 13th. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 6:30. Tickets are on sale at lunch today and tomorrow for a reduced price of $5. They will be $8 at the door. Come out to see who will be crowned Gaithersburg’s Finest!


Announcement:The GHS CNA program will be holding our Information Meeting in the Main Office Team Room during lunch next Monday, March 16th. Please see Mr. Edmiston if you would like more information.

Announcement: Did you know that home health care is projected to be one of the fastest-growing career fields over the next 20 years? Did you know that you can study to become a Certified Nursing Assistant right here at Gaithersburg High School? If you would like to learn more about our program please plan to attend the CNA Information Meeting in the Main Office Team Room during lunch today.  Mr. Edmiston if you would like more information.

Announcement: TODAY is the Master of Pi competition. Come to 3076 during lunch and show off your digits! Twenty digits will get you free pie and 2000 digits will beat the GHS record. Tomorrow.  there… will… be… pie! (*with hesitations for dramatic effect  )

Announcement:  Attention all ladies interested in playing Powderpuff on your class team: Please see your class sponsors ASAP! The game is coming up quickly and teams need to be put together. The powderpuff game is Thursday, March 19th. Kickoff is at 5:30pm in the stadium.

Announcement: Attention Class of 2021, grade 11 students. If you have not completed the exam choice form for SAT School Day please do so immediately! You may complete a form in the main office. Place your completed form in the box top marked, “SAT School Day Exam Choice Form.” All forms are due today March 12th. All other grade levels, if you want to take the SAT, you must register online for a Saturday date. SAT School Day is for Class of 2021, grade 11 students only.

Announcement: The Millionaires Club meets the first and third Mondays of the month in Room 2024 during lunch. The purpose of this club is to encourage and promote financial and investment literacy by utilizing a stock market simulation and engaging students in practical discussions that will increase their personal financial knowledge

Announcement: The Academy of Business Management and Finance meets the second Thursday of the month at lunch in room 2024. 

Announcement:  The Pride Alliance will not meet tomorrow. We will meet on March 20 as usual during lunch in room 1124 and will be hosting a guest speaker, Montgomery County Council member Evan Glass.  All are welcome.

Announcement: Come unplug and challenge your mind.  The Trojan Puzzle Enthusiasts meet every day in

Announcement: Are you considering joining a branch of the US Military?  Have you taken the ASVAB exam yet?  Have you taken the ASVAB and are unhappy with your scores?  If so, testing will take place here at GHS on Monday, March 30.  Permission slips are available now. In addition, the Montgomery County Public Library website offers FREE online practice tests for the ASVAB. Come by the Media Center for instructions on how to access this free resource.

Announcement:  DUAL ENROLLMENT at Montgomery College

Dual Enrollment is for motivated HS students ready for new challenges, and interested in getting a head start on earning college credit. Next Fall there will be three MC courses offered at GHS taught by MC Professors during Periods 7 & 8. The first step is to apply to Montgomery College. The Application Fee for MC is waived through April 15, so now is a great time to apply! Financial assistance and an MC HS Grant is available to qualifying students for Dual Enrollment courses. Announcement: Reminder for the class of 2020: Please let the College Career Center know about any admissions responses you have received from any of the colleges and universities you have applied to, as well as any scholarships and grants you have been awarded.

Announcement: Those attending the Romeo and Juliet field trip on Friday 3/20, we will be meeting in the PAC before leaving for the field trip, at the start of period 2.

Announcement:  It’s time to donate blood! The Spanish honor society will be in the pit this week during lunch so you can sign up to donate there! If you sign up to donate you have a chance to win a gift card! Further information will be provided at the table!! Be sure to bring back your parent permission slips to the sign up table! The blood drive will be next Wednesday, March 18.
