Freshmen this is an opportunity  for you to explore what the SAT would be like and to see what are your strengths and areas needing improvement. Juniors this is an opportunity for you to qualify for scholarship opportunities. Tenth graders, you will automatically take the PSAT. Cost for the  PSAT 9 is $12 and $17 for the official PSAT/NMSQT. Announcement:  Earn college credit while in High School through the Dual Enrollment Program! Classes are held at GHS, taught by Montgomery College instructors. Classes  meet twice a week for a double period during the GHS regular school day. Juniors and Seniors, start thinking about the Spring 2020 semester and see how you can earn Dual Enrollment credit. Get a jump start on college! Financial assistance and grants are available  for qualifying students. Announcement: The  STEM-UP @ GHS is inviting students who are looking for alternative opportunities to engage in fun and meaningful STEM learning activities. This is an excellent avenue for  students who need more confidence in conducting  scientific explorations and conducting experiments. The primary goal of this club is to increase students’ interest, participation and involvement in the field of STEM  in multiple ways and in a supportive, inclusive environment that makes STEM accessible for all.  Meetings will be on Thursdays after school in room 1087.  Accepting new members until Friday, September 20.

The City of Gaithersburg is looking for volunteers for its Labor Day Parade. See message below

  The City of Gaithersburg in is the final weeks of recruiting almost 100 volunteers to carry banners, dress in costumes, distribute programs and direct units to their zone and ensure they start the parade at the right time.  

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE AT LEAST 14 years old and complete and return an Indemnification Form to the City of Gaithersburg, Cultural Events & Services Division by August 16th.    

Grab a friend and show your support for your community by volunteering in the Labor Day Parade!!

Trojan Families of 9th Grade Students and New Students to GHS: We want to invite you to the annual Gaithersburg HS 9th Grade and New Student and New Family Orientations on Thursday, August 29, 2019.  We encourage you to join us as we prepare your student and family to become part of the Trojan family.  In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, students and parents will have an opportunity to learn more about our programs during the following two orientation sessions:  

-  Incoming 9th Grade & New Student Orientation:  Thursday, August 29th from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  

-  Incoming 9th Grade & New Family Orientation:  Thursday, August 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 pm

I’ve had a wonderful wonderful 8 straight years at GHS.I will forever Bleed Blue and Gold….as an alumni, teacher & parent of GHS. Don’t EVER let anyone tell you GHS isn’t an INCREDIBLE place to be.   • Can’t get enough of the GHS Media center? The Media Center is now open extended hours Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4 pm. You can also take the media center where ever you go with the Sora student reading app. Download it today to unlock a virtual library filled with eBooks and audio literature.   
  • Hey Juniors!! Come see your counselor before school, during lunch, or after school to set up your junior conference before the summer break. 
  • Any and all students who are in need of a sports physical are welcome to come to the wellness center and see Mrs. Ostry any day until the end of school. Please come to the health room to schedule an appointment and pick up an enrollment packet, if you are not already signed up and a sports physical history form to be completed by your parent or guardian.  This is a free service that the wellness center provides for all students at GHS!   
  • Summer reading is here!  It's time to choose a book that you want to read during this upcoming summer.  You will be able to select a text that a teacher in the building has also chosen to read. When you return in the fall, you will engage in a seminar discussion about the text. Check the GHS website, as well as with your English or ESOL teacher, for more information.  This is a school-wide requirement for every student.  Get excited to explore new worlds and expand your knowledge this summer!  
  • Students interested in coming to the Media Center during ShowTime must obtain a pass ahead of time from the Media Center. Passes are only distributed before school, after school and during lunch.  Students, please do not come between periods, you will be sent back to class.    
  • Students are you interested in earning SSL hours?  Volunteer at SummerFest.   SummerFest is a huge outdoor festival held at Bohrer Park that culminates with a fabulous fireworks display.  Students are needed to be face painters, greeters, and to help with a few family activities we have planned.  SummerFest is on Saturday, June 29th from 5 -11 pm at Bohrer Park.   Student volunteers are needed from 4:00-9:00pm.  We will have volunteer t-shirts, sandwiches, snacks, and water.    We encourage students to stay and watch the fireworks and AfterGlo Party.  Stop by the Media Center to pick a Volunteer Indemnification Form.   
  • Do you want to be a part of the marching band but don’t know how to play an instrument? Do you want to show off your school spirit during football games? Then come out to GHS Flagline tryouts June 12 and 13th in the PAC. No experience is needed. If you have any questions, stop by to see Ms. Anaya during lunch or after school in room 1080 for help. Flyers are also posted around the school with the application link and QR code.

Announcements for June 4 

  • Students interested in coming to the Media Center during ShowTime must obtain a pass ahead of time from the Media Center. Passes are only distributed before school, after school and during lunch.  Students, please do not come between periods, you will be sent back to class.    
  • Are you interested in going to college? Then SAT Club is the one for you. Come by room 3066 TOMORROW, Wednesday during lunch to prepare for this major test.
  • Forever Sisters meets TOMORROW during lunch in room 1104.  New members are welcome.   
  • The comic book club will have it’s final meeting of the year Thursday at lunch in 1137. Bring your lunch and a friend as we celebrate the end of the year.

  • MoCo's Got Talent.  B-burg's got talent!  Our very own, Anna Wilson's got talent!  That's right - Anna Wilson is a finalist for the MoCo's Got Talent competition that will be hosted at The Fillmore on Sunday, June 9th.  We are so excited to support Anna that we are going to take a busload of students to The Fillmore to cheer on Anna.  This trip is totally free and students will get a free snack from the concession stand.  If you would like to attend this Sunday field trip, please pick up a permission slip in The Wellness Center. 
  • The last Activity Bus will be Thursday, June 6th. This is the bus that comes at 4:30 Tuesday through Thursday for after school activities.   
  • Can’t get enough of the GHS Media center? The Media Center is now open extended hours Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4 pm. You can also take the media center where ever you go with the Sora student reading app. Download it today to unlock a virtual library filled with eBooks and audio literature.   
  • Link Generations offers the unique opportunity to interact with older adults and other students in the community. You get one SSL hour for every meeting you participate in, and there's snacks, too. If you have questions, contact Ms. Chevalier. Our last meeting of the year will be Thursday, June 6 in Room 3005 during lunch. 
  • Hey Juniors!! Come see your counselor before school, during lunch, or after school to set up your junior conference before the summer break.

 TESTING this week at GHS! PARCC / MISA / and HSA testing will go from Monday, May 20th through Friday May 31st. Make-ups will occur throughout the testing window which ends on Friday May 31st.  The exams will be as follows:  -    Wednesday May 22nd and Thursday May 23rd:    NSL Government and AP Government classes will test on for the Government High School Assessment (HSA) exam  **NOTE: If your student isn't taking one of the above tests, they do not need to arrive to school until  the start of Period 1 (or Period 6 on Tuesday 5/21). **Students who need to ride the bus--Buses run at a normal time.  Students will be asked to remain in the cafeteria during the testing window.

 FINAL GHS PTSA Meeting of the 2018-2019 School year TONIGHT, TUE 5/21The GHS PTSA wraps up the year with their last meeting next Tuesday, May 21st.  After a brief business meeting to vote in the slate of officers for the 2019-2020 school year, we will be hearing from the Montgomery County Police Gang Unit.   • Gaithersburg High School will be hosting the 1st-Annual Gaithersburg Soccer Jamboree on May 29th!  Participants will receive custom t-shirt jerseys and food will be provided by Jimmy John’s. The winning team will be awarded medals.  This event is totally free, but space is limited.  If you are interested in playing in the Soccer Jamboree, get your team of 7 players together and pick up a permission form in The Wellness Center. 
  • Come out and support Flags for Our Heroes by helping to set up the flags at Bohrer Park. Lots of hands are needed to make this a successful event. Help is need after school on Wednesday and Thursday May 22nd and 23rd. Meet at Bohrer Park right after school. Questions---- stop by Ms. Nardin's room in 1115.
  •  Need help with your writing or just a quiet place to work? Come to the GHS Writing Center. We are in Room 2003 every day at lunchtime and on Tuesdays and Thursdays during ShowTime. For your ShowTime pass, stop by Room 2096E any day before or after school.

The GMS & GHS PTSAs have offered to collect gift cards from Target, Kohl's, Giant/Safeway for the family, as many of their belongings were destroyed by fire or water damage.  There will be a box in GHS' Main Office starting tomorrow, May 14th for collecting of gift cards.  Questions about how else you can help?   • Gaithersburg High School will be hosting the 1st-Annual Gaithersburg Soccer Jamboree on May 29th!  Participants will receive custom t-shirt jerseys and food will be provided by Jimmy John’s. The winning team will be awarded medals.  This event is totally free, but space is limited.  If you are interested in playing in the Soccer Jamboree, get your team of 7 players together and pick up a permission form in The Wellness Center.
